UNIX has a legacy with DEC. UNIX was first written for the DEC PDP-7 and the first production versions were for the PDP-11. When the VAX-11/780 was released, DEC ported AT&T Research UNIX v7 as UNIX 32V. DEC then released a proprietary version of UNIX called ULTRIX. ULTRIX came in two flavors ULTRIX-32 for the VAX and ULTRIX-11 for the PDP-11. 3BSD and 4BSD was also released. NetBSD, a newer BSD has a port to the VAX and new versions are still being released. AT&T UNIX System III and V were also available as is AT&T Research UNIX v8.
