The next generation of the VAX, the 8000 series, released in 1984 was supposed to debut as the VAX-11/790 and 795 (The higher performance version) but instead they started a new class of higher performance VAXen starting with the VAX 8600 and and VAX 8650. These and the lower cost VAX 8200 and VAX 8250 are simulated by Simh. The VAX 8600 was the last VAX model to have the PDP-11 RSX compatibility. These were high performance and advanced machines for their time with the 8600 supporting up to 512 Megabytes of RAM and the 8200 supporting up to 128 Megabytes of RAM. To contrast, the contemporary but vary differently used IBM PC XT supported up to 640 Kilobytes of RAM! These are fine machines but I will have very few model-specific emulation guides for these since the use of other machines will simplify both the instructions and at least for me simplifies the organization of my emulators and configurations.
